Join us for this one day retreat as we learn various techniques to help the body revert back to the natural state. This natural state is always present. In its simplest, primal form, the natural state is pre-conceptual. It sits quietly behind beliefs, concepts, judgement, thoughts and even personality. With time and practice this state can become a default state anytime, anywhere. The one day retreat allows for plenty of direct experience of just being. Participants need not have any previous experience with meditation. Everyone starts at the beginning, every time.

Brian Roche has been practising meditation for 40 years. He has taught meditation to groups and one-on-one for about ten years. Brian has spent most of his life peeling away the layers of myth and hype that seem to surround meditation. The result is a streamlined, no nonsense approach that goes directly to the heart of the matter.....our quiet natural state.

Cost is $30 for BFO Members (in good standing for 2010) and $40 for non members / retreat – Membership for 2010 is available at a cost of $25.

See list of other event dates below.

BFO - KINGSTON EVENTS:

BFO-Kingston is hosting their Third Annual Gala and Silent Auction on Thursday May 27, 2010 at the
Renaissance Event Venue, located on Queen Street in Kingston from 6:00 pm – 11:00 pm. Hors D’oeuvres will be served between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm, and the entertainment will start at 8:00 pm. AMBUSH, a popular local band, with special guests, the Tracycally Hip, a tribute to Kingston’s Tragically Hip will be performing.

The hope is to have speakers from BFO (the founders, Executive Director, a bereaved parent) to give a sense of 'why' BFO exists as well as to celebrate the fact that we have been helping the healing begin for so many people for over 20 years.

The presentation of the David Bell Award will also be made that evening. If you would like to nominate someone for this award, please do so by April 30, 2010. Nomination forms and award criteria are available from the BFO office.

What can you do to be a part of this event?

Memorial DVD We are also planning to create a DVD that would honour and celebrate all our loved ones. If you would like your loved one to be included in this DVD, please submit an electronic file of the photo (preferred) or an actual photo that can be scanned of your loved one, along with their name, dates of life, and a tag line that says a bit about the person. The tag line is meant to be something simple but yet reflective, such as 'the gentleman, playful soul mate, the reader', etc. Basically anything that is short and sweet and says something about the person being remembered. The DVD would play throughout the evening on a screen. All photos need to be submitted no later than FRIDAY MAY 14th, 2010. You can submit them electronically to bfo@kingston.net

Silent Auction Do you own a business or know someone that does? We are looking for donations to the silent auction table. If you can help out, please contact Maggie Forsberg at the BFO Office. 613 634-1230.

Tickets To make this event a success, your presence is needed. Please call the BFO office to reserve your tickets.

Volunteers Volunteers are needed to secure prizes and to help set up the day of the event, so if you can help out, please contact the BFO office (613 634-1230) and leave your name and contact information.
